The following list summarizes some of the
important characteristics of OPeNDAP served data sets accessible through this
portal. Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) have been developed to search and access some of these data collections and can be acquired in the Matlab OPeNDAP Ocean Toolbox. These data sets,
which include other variables not measured in the five main categories,
are more fully described in a THREDDS catalog. This catalog includes important
metadata, as well as enabling further access to the data down to the
granule level.
All of the following data collections are available via OPeNDAP command line clients as well as through the Matlab OPeNDAP Ocean Toolbox:
- HYCOM North Atlantic Prediction System Model data of surface ocean conditions in the North and Equatorial Atlantic on a 1/12° grid. A Matlab GUI has been developed for this data set and is available in the Matlab OPeNDAP Ocean Toolbox.
- NASA/GSFC AIRS Physical
Retrieval Product includes measurements of atmospheric
water vapor and precipitable water above the surface ocean. The Atmospheric
Infrared Sounder (AIRS) is a high spectral resolution spectrometer
that has been in sun-synchronous orbit aboard NASA's Aqua satellite
since 2002. This Level 3 product consists of daily, weekly and monthly
gridded data at 1° resolution. A Matlab GUI has been developed for this
data set and is available in the Matlab OPeNDAP Ocean Toolbox.
- WHOI Objectively Analyzed
Air-Sea Fluxes (OAFlux) are part of a project that will
soon release an enhanced air-sea heat flux analysis product for the
global oceans for the last 50 years. The current release includes daily
and monthly, 1° gridded global surface latent and sensible heat fluxes
since 1981, all validated against in situ flux measurements. Net
longwave and shortwave radiations acquired from the International
Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP) since 1983 are also
provided with these data at the same spatial and temporal resolution. A Matlab GUI has been developed for this
data set and is available in the Matlab OPeNDAP Ocean Toolbox.
